Jim Bowie loved a good fight. He once killed a man during a duel...and the two weren't even the duelists! He found plenty of fights in 1830's Texas, and was the hero of the Battle of Concepcion. When the Mexican army surrounded the Alamo in March of 1836, Bowie refused to retreat or surrender, and in the process joined the list of the heroes of Texas.
